Cultural Documentation

Cultural heritage work focuses on materials produced by humans. These materials allow scientists, educators, and the interested public to understand ancient peoples and provide valuable insight into the modern cultures of the world. Following is our documentation:

Preserving The Past

The project for the Preservation of Endangered Moveable Cultural Assets of Gandhara Art was part of the USA funded UNESCO Programme for the Preservation of Endangered Moveable Cultural Assets and Museum Development initiated in 2004.

The project activities increased the number of catalogued objects, so that they could be better protected against theft. Action focused on preservation of moveable heritage, with special emphasis on study and publication, inventories, capacity-building, and training of staff in protecting cultural property and assets, museulogy, and conservation, as well as manuscripts.

It was aimed at making them accessible to local populations as elements of their tangible cultural heritage.
